Fighting for Firsts
In 2019, we dedicated our B&Y holiday card and cause to raising awareness for infant mortality. Considered the death of any child before their first birthday, the infant mortality rate is an important indicator of overall community health. We created an original enamel pin and shared it with our partners, vendors and clients to spread the word about this preventable crisis. This pin can be found at our online store as we continue to fight for firsts year-round.
This new objective called for a new focus — one that shows the audience that they too can participate in do-able, realistic challenges that will make a difference in their lives and the lives of others.

Smile, word, step — every baby’s firsts are special. But some babies don’t see their first birthday. Losing a child in their first year of life is a tragedy no parent should have to face. The U.S. infant mortality rate is consistently higher than other developed countries. Education, prenatal care and holistic solutions are needed to ensure all babies celebrate their 1st birthday. Healthier Moms and Babies offers assistance and education to at-risk mothers and families in Allen County, IN.
